“Gender, disability and equality is an area that our partner, Department for International Development (DFID) has made it clear that it is important to them as well as other members of our board. We scored good points on other elements of our programme but scored poorly in this area. Disability, gender and equality is an issue that has been raised to see if we have come up with a strategy or are doing anything in this area to be more inclusive to all persons regardless of gender or disability. The information we receive during this training will be delivered to the field officers, farmers coordinators’ as well as the farmer attendees to see how we as CFU can be more inclusive to persons with disabilities and the approach we use towards them,” said Rosie Pilcher.

Resource Mobilsation training

“All along we were doing guess work but now we are going to have a clear plan of how we can mobilise resources in a coordinated manner for our organisation,” stated Sarah Ngoma, Vice Chairperson of the People’s Action Forum (PAF) Board.
Mrs Ngoma said PAF decided to adopt ZGF’s customised training on resource mobilisation to ensure that they are equipped with the knowledge to start generating alternative funds for the organisation.”We might want to depend on donor funding but the truth is there is no guarantee of continuity if we don’t introduce other measures to sustain our programs and the organisation,” Mrs Ngoma explained.

Earning the “best daddy” title

“My children now call me the best daddy because they can now charge their phones anytime of the day using the VITALITE pay-as-you-go solar system. You know how teenagers just want to be using their phones all day, accessing social media. Before I purchased the VITALITE unit my children had to go to the next farm which is really far just to charge their phones,” explained Mr Mumbuna.
He said he was enjoying using his solar system as it had a flexible payment plan and was durable in terms of power storage.
